I checked the forum on this topic and I'm still not sure what his best sounding comp is - I don't think there is a clear consensus? By "best sounding", I am referring to warm tracks, with a lot of dynamc range or something where you can hear and detect actual remastering or even restoring. It sounds good Does Essential sound more upfront in the speakers and have warmth and bass, or is it compressed and too loud?

He rerecorded the songs with his contemporary band and are the best versions of the songs. I find his recordings and production of his albums in the 70's is really poor. On vinyl I guess the Speakers Corner reissue of Back Home Again is the best but the original recording isn't great to begin with. His songs came alive in the last 15 years of his life.
